How to install a PC recomp

Pick a game, check the port’s requirements, and get the build from its developer.

1. Find the right project

Search for the original game or the community project’s name. Check the original console listed on the game page, especially when several releases share a title.

2. Match your system

Choose a package for your operating system and processor. If you play on a Steam Deck, check whether the project documents a native Linux build or uses a Windows package through Proton.

3. Check the original data requirements

Read the upstream setup guide for the supported regions, revisions, and file formats. Prepare the matching files from your own game copy.

4. Follow the release instructions

Open the upstream Releases link and follow the setup steps for the version you chose. Some builds ask for the original file on first launch. Others require you to extract the assets before starting.
